From July 28th to 29th, the "Refreshing Fujian" Cultural Tourism Promotion Event, jointly organized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, was successfully held in Okinawa and Nagasaki prefectures in Japan. Our university's Minliu Taiko Team was invited to participate in the cultural exchange activities in Japan and performed at the welcome banquet for the Fujian Friendship Delegation, which was hosted by the Okinawa Prefectural Government.
Our university's Minliu Taiko Team presented a solo performance of "Xiangwang Xing" and a co-performance of "Tang Chuan" with the Naha Taiko Team. "Xiangwang Xing," inspired by the ancient Chinese cultural classic Yijing, boasts a grand and magnificent music style with distinct rhythms. It masterfully blends the melodious sounds of traditional Chinese instruments, such as the pipa and guzheng, with the passionate beats of Okinawan Taiko drums, offering the audience a unique experience to feel the charm of a Taiko drum show integrated with Chinese elements. "Tang Chuan," an ancient Okinawan folk song, is sung in the Okinawan dialect and played on the Sanshin, an Okinawan musical instrument. The name of the song means ‘The ship from China has arrived’, conveying the joy and welcome of the Okinawan people towards the visit of the Chinese delegation.
In addition, the program "Fujian: A Diplomatic Powerhouse" interviewed our university's Minliu Taiko Team, which was broadcasted on Haibo TV of the Fujian Radio and Television Network. The video account "Fujian Release" also reported the team’s splendid performance.
